Female bullies?[]

Couldn't Violet and Lucy be added to this category? Maybe Patty too. They were really mean to Charlie Brown.Simon Peter Hughes 13:08, December 14, 2010 (UTC)

I didn't think of them. I guess they could be added.Statue-of-liberty 00:08, December 15, 2010 (UTC)

Glad you agree. Thanks for addding Lucy and Violet to the category.--Simon Peter Hughes 16:46, December 19, 2010 (UTC)

I think Peppermint Patty should definitely be added as well, as even though she liked "Chuck", she still intimidated and pushed him around (most glaring example, the Thanksgiving story and "It's Your First Kiss". And that whole "what do you mean, a 'really big nose'?" scene as well). She was a definite bully, even though more friendly than the others. (And yes, thanks for adding Violet and Patty. Everyone focuses on Lucy, but she was nothing compared to them in the 50's! They were totally brutal, and at least Lucy usually had a reason to bully him. [And earlier on, when she was really young, he would actually get tough with her!] I often wonder if Schulz rethought and replaced those other two with Peppermint Patty and Marcie out of mercy. It was certainly a relief to see them go!) Erictb (talk) 18:59, 27 January 2024 (UTC)

That is a valid interpretation. I think of Peppermint Patty as more dope-y and well-intentioned, whereas a bully has actual malice and is trying to hurt someone. I don't think that Peppermint Patty is malintentioned, do you? —Justin (koavf)·T·C 22:02, 27 January 2024 (UTC)
Not malintentioned, but still, focused on her own view/wants to the detriment of Charlie Brown, in which case, good intentions may not matter. A person "bullying" others can have (at least in their own mind) "good" intentions. In "It's Your First Kiss", I'd say the intentions weren't good; again, she was so into the desire to win the game, she sided with Lucy who she couldn't even see was the real cause of the loss. Plus, there's her treatment of some others (not the regulars) as well. So in at least those instances, she was definitely a bully, just like Lucy. But, aside from that, "intimidating" (in addition to aggressive and bossy) definitely fits. But yes, she did have a more dopey and less serious at times nature, which was a great relief compared to the other bullying girls. Erictb (talk) 22:24, 27 January 2024 (UTC)
