Daisy Hill Puppy Farm

In the Peanuts comic strip by Charles M. Schulz and its television and movie adaptations, the Daisy Hill Puppy Farm is a location where puppies are bred and sold. It was the home of Snoopy and all his siblings, and his parents, until they were sold to owners. It was first referred to in the strip from May 4, 1965.

History[]

Snoopy originally lived on the Daisy Hill Puppy Farm along with his siblings. They played together, and had a little band in Snoopy's Reunion. Snoopy was first bought by a girl named Lila but had to give him up because dogs were not allowed to live in her building. Snoopy was then returned to the Daisy Hill Puppy Farm and was eventually bought by Charlie Brown. This was first referred to in a series of strips from August 1968 and later in the 1972 feature-length movie Snoopy, Come Home and the 1991 TV special Snoopy's Reunion. Sometime before being adopted by Charlie Brown, was almost bought by a girl named Poochie, but she got distracted and ended up buying an English sheepdog instead.

In a series of strips from June 1970, Snoopy is asked to make a speech at the Daisy Hill Puppy Farm. While he is trying to speak, a fight breaks out, covering the farm with dust. While covered in dust, Snoopy claims to have met his dream girl, but she is then sold a week later.

Snoopy finds that the Daisy Hill Puppy Farm no longer exists in the November 24, 1972 strip.

In the strip from November 24, 1972, part of a storyline in which Snoopy has to walk Woodstock south for the winter, the beagle wants to show Woodstock the place where he grew up, but then discovers that the Daisy Hill Puppy Farm has turned into a parking garage. Snoopy then calls out, "You're parking on my memories!"

In one strip, Lucy incorrectly refers to it as the "Puppy Hill Daisy Farm"

Differences between the strip and animation[]

There are inconsistencies in the depiction of the Daisy Hill Puppy Farm in comparison to the strip and the animated specials and series.

In various strips' storylines, Daisy Hill is both described and shown as having tons more dogs than Snoopy and his family, all being bred and sold (such as Snoopy's dream girl). In one strip Snoopy says they were all kept in cages sometimes, in another he mentions them being in a touch football team.

However in the animated special Snoopy's Reunion as well as the first episode of The Snoopy Show, Daisy Hill is different. It appears as a normal-looking farm, and Snoopy's family appears to be the only dogs there, sleeping on hay instead of in cages. The Snoopy Show also refers to it only as "The Daisy Hill Farm", presumably because of the negative connotations of it being called a "puppy farm".
