Marcie first tells Peppermint Patty on the bus to camp, that the boy behind her is calling her names. Marcie responds by hitting him with a first-aid kit. Later at camp, the boy keeps calling Marcie names, so she clobbers him with her lunch, pushes him off the dock (into the lake) and shoves him into a patch of poison oak.
Six days after he was first referred to, the boy makes his first appearance in the comic strip. It is revealed that his name is Floyd, and he was only calling Marcie "Lambcake" to get her attention because he liked her. Peppermint Patty tells Marcie she is being ridiculous by beating up Floyd, just because he called her "Lambcake", which is not such an insulting name. However, Peppermint Patty gets very angry, and even beats up Floyd when he calls her "Sir".
Floyd keeps following Marcie and calling her by the same pet name until he leaves camp. When the time comes for Floyd to go home, in the strip from August 6, 1976, he is unhappy that Marcie still does not like him back and saddened that he cannot write to her because he does not know her surname or address. Fortunately for Marcie, Floyd never surfaced in the strip again.
