One less known running gag in Peanuts that has to do with Sally, is her "philosophies" about life. She makes her first philosophy on October 13, 1986. However, her philosophies are not very well thought out, or life changing.
Her philosophies are little words, such as "Why me?", or "How should I know?". She normally tells her philosophies to her brother, Charlie Brown, and he normally does not find her philosophies meaningful. Sally believes her philosophies are great philosophies. She even claims to have discovered the meaning of life (You just hang around until you get used to it).
Once, Sally says, "Some philosophies take a thousand years. I think of them in one minute!" Another time, Sally declares that her new philosophy is simply "NO!", which was to be her answer to every question from that moment on, to which Charlie Brown says "That's your new philosophy, huh?" which she responds, "Yes!", leading her to grumble, "You ruined my new philosophy!" The late 1990s Broadway revival of You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown made reference to her philosophies with a new song for Sally called "My New Philosophy."
