World Famous Grocery Clerk

The World Famous Grocery Clerk

The World Famous Grocery Clerk is one of Snoopy's alter-egos introduced to Peanuts comic strips on August 25, 1970.

Wearing an apron, with a pencil behind his ear, Snoopy stands on top of his doghouse, fantasizing that he works at a grocery store check-out counter.

In a series of strips first published in late August 1970, and one Sunday strip from November 15 of the same year, Snoopy is shown counting imaginary grocery items, yelling out directions and questions to other staff members, and chatting with customers.

The world famous grocery clerk appears in the TV special There's No Time for Love, Charlie Brown, and in the song, is said to be Joe Cool's after school job.
